The Clamoring Silence | Stop Violence Against Women

A thousand candles, raised close to their bosom…
With hands protecting the blinking… quivering flame…
They all walked through the streets… with placards of outcry…
Silently, peacefully, they marched… with hearts full of dissent…

Their eyes were swollen… filled with incessant tears…
Their souls grieved for her… she hadn’t died in vain…
They wanted a thousand deaths… for her beastly violators…
Faces looked red with loath… as they silently walked in disdain…

Their hearts prayed peace for her brave young soul…
A billion hearts wreathing in pain with her sufferings…
The Gods had been watching this… helplessly in disgust…
How could they create… evil monsters in human frames?

There are many like her… some dead and some live like dead…
Some wept in reticence… everyday… till their mortal body survived…
They never got their life back… their happiness murdered…
With horror of violence they live… and everyday their soul has died…

A thousand now walk for them… the victims yet filled with guilt…
A slap on the face of society… which detests… abandons the violated…
Which leaves them for death… instead of a life of love and dignity…
Virtually glorifying the violence… so inhuman… an endless insanity…

There was spirit in their walk… there was silence in the streets…
But there was an unconditional uproar in everybody’s hearts…
It was an army of candles… a troop of fighters against injustice…
They might be mute today… but there are clamors in their silence…
