Her Smile Makes My Day

I don’t understand love; it is such a labyrinthine enigma.
I don’t understand heart; it beats drum-like when she is by me.
I don’t understand eyes; it has tears when she is in despair.
I do understand one thing; she’s my world, she’s everything to me.

When I walk by her side, holding gently, her soft hands,
It feels like a magical symphony, played from the heavens.
When she rests her head on my shoulders, I feel heavy;
As if all her pains have deported into my heart and veins.

When out of nowhere that cool blissful breeze blows,
And her silky lock flows behind, hiding my awed semblance.
And when she turns around in shock realizing the mess,
And carefully removes them, to see my magic struck face.

Then when she caresses me, laughing at my stupefied form;
A magic had been spelled upon me by the aroma of her hair;
And when she pulls my ears to release that benumbing spell,
I feel so special, I feel so loved- bringing a sense that life’s fair.

And when she walks away, saying nothing and not even looking,
Just her eyes spilling her hurt; my silly heart shatters fragmented,
For a moment I curse myself a thousand times and run after,
To fetch my love back; to whisper a thousand words of atonement.

She looks down, silent, still unable to let in my countless sorries.
Every attempt to pacify goes in vain, with her eyes still tear-laden.
There comes that little red rose from my back pocket- my savior!
I kneel down raising that scarlet, awaiting the smile that makes my day.
