Wings of Liberty

One fine morning, I woke up to the song of a beautiful blue bird
Sitting on my window, proclaiming sunrise… embracing the new day…
Looking around, waking the mortals nearby… with its soothing melodies…
As the sunlight peeked into my room with a pleasant morning breeze…

I envy that bird… because it had wings and a sweet voice that sings…
I wished that morning… I wished I had its wings… so beautiful and so strong…
I would have flown away from this cage of obligation and responsibility…
Away to the farthest of lands… I had seen in my dreams and reverie…

I would have traveled to the distant islands… lunged into unknown lakes…
No boundaries would have stopped me… no guilt would’ve chained me…
I would have savored on every fruit unknown… endless feasts…
And would’ve relished the exotic and survived the wild and its beasts…

I would have darted up so high… soaring in the sky like a rocket…
That I could touch the clouds… and see the world above ‘em…
Or would have made a couch on them… and spent a dreamy eve…
I would have danced in the first rains… a childhood I’ve wished to relive…

I would have winged atop the mountains… and sung a song of victory…
I would have sipped water from the lonely lakes of the barren aridity…
I wouldn’t ‘ve dreaded the darkest caves… and challenged the most difficile things…
I would’ve conquered the vastness of oceans… and withstood the stormy winds…

I would have fleeted to the faraway countries… witnessed the diversities…
I would have seen humans battle… over religion, race, needs and creeds…
Watched ‘em with eyes full of pity… and prayed for love, peace and sanity…
If only I had those wings – Those strong, beautiful, blue Wings of Liberty.

I like warrior movies and Gladiator is one of my favorites in this category. It is a story of the Roman general who becomes a Gladiator. A good story, good action and brilliant acting.

Based on the Homer’s epic, this is a story of the destruction of the city called Troy and the story of the legendary warrior Achilles. This is an efficiently picturized movie which gives a feel of Animation in it. The best thing I like about this movie is the dialogues of warriors and the king of Sparta. A tale of a war, the warriors who gave their lives, treachery and myth.

4. Braveheart

IMDB: William Wallace is a Scottish rebel who leads an uprising against the cruel English ruler Edward the Longshanks, who wishes to inherit the crown of Scotland for himself. When he was a young boy, William Wallace’s father and brother, along with many others, lost their lives trying to free Scotland. Once he loses another of his loved ones, William Wallace begins his long quest to make Scotland free once and for all, along with the assistance of Robert the Bruce.

Director: Mel Gibson

It is a story of Freedom against the tyranny of the English rulers. The movie is pretty long but has all the elements that comes to war anywhere in the world. Uprising, revolt, tyranny, lost loved ones, warriors and traitors- this movie has it all.

This movie goes to the top of my list of Best Romantic Movies collection. An unusual love story, it makes me feel for Henry and pity Lucy. But the way Henry makes her day special, everyday is something we should do for our beloved. This movie is a must watch.

But when the dream ends, he finds out the next day everything which happened in his dream was coming out to be true. The way he spends that day with her in order to give her the best day of her life moved me a lot. I really love this love story. It is a must watch.

Based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel, this movie comes out to be a bit slow but very touchy. This is because this movie is based on the dialogues and I love Nicholas Sparks writing. It is a story of a man who lost his wife and every year he would write her a letter, put it in a bottle and throw it in the ocean. The story begins with the heroine finds this bottle on the beach and discovers his tragic love. It is a beautiful story and a must watch.
